"It is not more bigness that should be our goal. We must attempt, rather, to bring people back to the warmth of community, to the worth of individual effort and responsibility, and of individuals working together as a community, to better their lives and their children’s future."  - ROBERT F. KENNEDY

Opportunities to be of Service:

- An easy way to serve to participate in Club Service is to share our club's social media posts on your own social media pages.   Here is our Facebook page.   You can also find us on Instagram @babylonrotary.  Please share our flyers about upcoming projects and photos of our success.

- Our Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution takes place on Weds Nov 24th.  If you would like to help and be on our TURKEY TEAM, please reply to this newsletter for more info.

-  We will be collecting New & Gently Used Children's Books that will be distributed both locally & across the globe in conjunction with Hindi's Libraries.  1 of 7 Causes supported by Rotary is Education.  More than 775 million people are illiterate.  Rotary's goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education & literacy.   We already completed one leg of our Book Drive at West Babylon Library and it was a huge success.  We will continue in January.

Rotary Foundation Giving:  The Rotary Foundation transforms your donations into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.  Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 Billion on life-changing sustainable projects.  That is the power of Rotary.  Our club strives to have every member donate $100 every year to change the world.  Our club will match up to $50 per Rotarian.   You can donate online: HERE

West Islip Interact Club:  A group of students, led by several RYLA students, have form a community based Interact Club.  Their first project is fundraising to purchase gifts for teens as part of our SCO Family of Services gift drive.   More details about their upcoming fundraiser to come.  One Rotarian is needed at each Interact meeting.  They meet twice a month on Tues at 7:30pm at West Islip Public Library.  Future meeting dates are December 7th & December 21st.

Rotary Connection:   Many times individuals are looking for a way to make connections within their community and don't know how.  One of Rotary Guiding Principles are the 5 Avenues of Service.

We channel our commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity.

  • Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. A thriving club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership development plan.  Club service includes tasks like volunteering to take notes at a meeting, giving the invocation, or greeting arriving members.
  • Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society. Learn more in An Introduction to Vocational Service and the Code of Conduct.  The knowledge you have a particular industry could turn your experience into an invaluable resource for others.
  • Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest. Learn more in Communities in Action: A Guide to Effective Projects.
  • International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more.
  • Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as InteractRotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange.

Next Meeting is December 1st at 12:30pm at the American Legion.
